Oak Island

Oak Island is an island in Brunswick County, located close to Southport but is the furthest most southeastern point you can reach by car in North Carolina. Oak Island is the largest island in Brunswick County, North Carolina, stretching 12 miles from end to end.

The Oak Island lighthouse located on the east end of the island is still a functioning lighthouse. The west end of the island is bordered by the Lockwood Folly River and on the east end is the mouth of the Cape Fear River offering plenty of opportunities for boating enthusiasts. There are two bridges that provide access over the ICW to Oak Island and its beaches.

Oak Island is a favorite spot for both locals and vacationers because the size of the island and the many restaurants on the island. Caswell Beach is a small town that is also a part of Oak Island.
